Trying out my dash cam as I make my journeys through the country lanes of Gloucestershire. You don’t have to listen to me waffle on, – turn the sound down! After my previous post – “Are Our Journeys Really Necessary, I feel bad that I am in the car so much. Unfortunately it is a feature of living out in the wilds that car journeys are all too often. It’s pretty seeing the Christmas Lights in our local large town of Thornbury.

Some interesting facts about Berkeley
Famous for Berkeley Castle
“Berkeley Castle is a castle in the town of Berkeley, Gloucestershire, UK. The castle’s origins date back to the 11th century, and it has been designated by English Heritage as a grade I listed building. ” ” The castle has remained within the Berkeley family since they reconstructed it in the 12th century, except for a period of royal ownership by the Tudors. It is traditionally believed to have been the scene of the murder of King Edward II in 1327.[2][3]

Berkeley was first recorded in 824 as Berclea {Wikipedia}
Edward Jenner was born in Berkeley and discovered the vaccine for small pox. His birth place is now a museum. He worked from his home in 1796.
Population count in 2011 – 2000 approx. Must be more like 4000 by now I would guess.
